This is my first ever blog entry. My wonderful and amazing friend Erin convinced me to start blogging. The reason being to document my journey of becoming a mother for the first time. As of today, I am 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant according to the doctor. I have to say that I am pretty excited about it. There are moments in the morning when I just HAVE to eat something but the thought of actually eating anything makes me want to vomit, and there are moments in the afternoon where I wish I could curl up on my office floor and take a nap. But more than the uncomfortable or inconvenient moments, there are moments throughout the day that I think about the fact that in 32 weeks and 4 days (roughly) Brad and I will be parents. Sometimes I say the words "I'm pregnant" and just smile. The whole thing is still surreal to me. And by the way, we like to call the baby "Biscuit."
Brad and I went to the OB for the first time last Monday, October 26th. We had a bit of a scare because our Dr.'s sonogram machine was not able to go deep enough to see anything, at that point the Doctor was not able to confirm the pregnancy or rule out a ectopic pregnancy. So, she sent us across the street to the Moore County Hospital to have them do a 'probe' ultrasound (I will let you figure out exactly what that entails) and blood work to confirm that I had the pregnancy hormone in my body. The ultrasound tech was able to find the baby with her machine pretty easily and that made Brad and I feel so much better. She looked at a lot of things and took lots of pictures of my inside girl parts :). As she was doing this, without any warning, she pushed a button on the machine and we heart the baby's heartbeat. I want to cry now just thinking about it. It was the most amazing sound I have ever heard. She was able to print us out two pictures where you can barely see a little baby body. All my bloodwork came back normal and healthy as well. So Brad and I decided to tell our parents and families.... I will leave that story for my next entry. Thanks for reading!
