Landry's here!

Landry was born June 14, 2010 at 9:47 pm! He weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches long. When I have a chance and sitting down doesn't hurt as bad as it does now, I will write a blog about his wonderful birthday! He is doing wonderfully and Brad and I could not feel more blessed!

39 week update

I had my 39 week appointment this morning. I am 39 weeks and 2 days, only 5 days until Landry's due date. The doctor said that I was 1 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Not a huge change from last week, but I guess the effacement is pretty important. She told me that if I don't have him by 41 weeks, we will do an induction (41 weeks will be June 23). I have accepted that he probably isn't going to come early and I should just relax and let it happen when HE is ready. Because that is the important thing... that he is done growing and developing and is ready for the outside world. Who cares that I have been ready to meet him and get him out of my belly for 2 weeks! :) My next appointment is Wednesday, my due date... although my doctor did say this week, "I will see you on Wednesday if you don't have the baby before then"... something she did not say last week! So now my only job is to sit back, put my feet up and rest until he decides to make his entrance into the world! I will update if anything starts to happen!!

False labor sucks!

Yesterday my mom and I went and ran some errands in Amarillo... we walked A LOT. I started having what I thought were just Braxton-Hicks contractions like I have been having more and more of for a week or two now... They started getting stronger and closer together. So I got a little excited, of course! From about lunch time till about 10 pm I had contractions. After we got home and took a long walk, they were pretty strong and uncomfortable (I won't say painful until after I know what the actual labor ones feel like). I took a shower and had a few REAL good ones during that. Then I sat down and they got weaker... and then just stopped. I have had a few more today but nothing consistent or terribly painful. So, I will just be glad that we got some practice timing! One thing that did stick around from yesterday... the cankles. I have been getting swollen by the end of the day for a while now... BUT these stuck around and I have a feeling aren't going anywhere until after the little guy gets here! Oh well, I welcome the cankles with open arms as long as that means he is coming soon. Which it has to because I will be 39 weeks tomorrow! My next appointment with the doctor is Friday. I will update with news then. Looks like there won't be much to report until then anyways.

38 week update

We went to the Dr this morning at 8:45, at the appointment I was dilated to almost 1 cm (fingertip) and 50% effaced. Great news! My belly measured 36, about 2 weeks behind... but up 1 cm from last week which is good, he is still growing, but he is not too big! The doctor said that he is definitely lower in my pelvis than last week, which means he 'dropped'. All good news... BUT that doesn't mean anything as far as time frame. Labor could start tonight or it could wait the 11 days I have left until my due date... or I guess even longer if he decides :) Lets hope for sooner rather than later, I am so ready to meet my little man! I did not sleep well last night and have been up since 5 this morning. One more piece of good news, the Dr had me go on leave starting Monday, so my last day at the office was today! I still have some work to do, but I will be doing it from my couch in my pj's tonight and tomorrow morning before my mom arrives. I had a wonderful shower at work today and I have a shower on Sunday! What a great weekend! Only thing that could make it better is if Landry decides to come out and meet his mommy and daddy!

test results

Forgot to add one piece of news to the 37 week appointment post... The doctor told us that I do not have Group B Strep, so I will not need those antibiotics during labor, another piece of good news. No other news as of now... let's hope for some good news at my appointment a week from today!

37 week appointment

Brad and I went for my 37 week appointment yesterday. I have good news and bad news...
Good news is I lost a pound, bad news is that I haven't made any progress as far as the cervix goes. I know that can happen really quickly and for all I know I could be dilated now even though I wasn't yesterday afternoon. So, I guess I shouldn't really call it bad news, it just isn't good news yet. I had quite a few Braxton Hicks contractions last night. I am considered full term as of today, so the little man can make his entrance when he sees fit! My OB will be out of town a few days next week, so let's hope he doesn't decide to make his entrance then! Our next appointment is Friday morning, June 4.

Dear Landry,
Daddy and I are all ready for you and we can't wait to meet you! Please come soon!

23 days

WOW! I was just looking at my The Bump account, which tells you how many weeks and days pregnant you are and how many days to go until your due date... I am 36 weeks and 5 days, which is crazy enough!... but then it said 23 days to go! That is crazy and I am so excited to meet my sweet baby boy! We have our 37 week appointment tomorrow afternoon followed by a tour of the labor and delivery area of our hospital. I will update again after that! Pray for progress :)

36 week appointment

I had my 36 week appointment today. The Dr. did the Group B Strep test and I will find out the results next appointment, one week from today. The doctor said that Landry's head is in position and all of that is wonderful. I have not started to dilate yet. She did not mention anything about effacement or station either.

After the appointment we went across the street to the hospital, got preregistered with admissions and saw some of the OB area. But, since so many people had their babies yesterday and today (awesome for them!) the rooms were full so we couldn't see inside a room. We met the head OB nurse and she asked us to come back after our appointment next week, preregister with OB and get a tour from her then. She was very nice and I think I will feel little more comfortable when the day comes since I have met some of the nurses. We are lucky enough to have made friends with the hospital administrator through 4H and I am hoping since he was showing us around and introducing us as 'his friends Brad and Chyla' the nurses will remember that and take extra special care of us! :)

Maternity pics set #2

Me and my Landry belly at 33 weeks, in a canola field in Sunray.

Are you nesting your car?

Well I'm pretty sure my nesting is in full effect now. I decided to install the car seat base in my car today... and then realized that my car was WAY too dirty to put a baby in! So, I decided to break out the vacuum and disinfecting wipes. Brad walked outside about halfway through and asked me, "Are you nesting your car?" I replied, "Yes, I believe I am." About two hours later, my car is vacuumed, disinfected and the car seat base is successfully installed. The car is now on the list of things ready for Landry's arrival! Now if I could get my back to stop hurting long enough so I can clean up the house AGAIN!

Wednesday May 12

Before I start the personal stuff... I want to share some happy news! My wonderful friend Erin and her husband Cullen welcomed their sweet Baby Noah today! I am so excited for them and I cannot wait for Noah and Landry to be friends! Congratulations Mills family!

My rings do not fit, my ankles are huge, and I am to the uncomfortable stage... No matter what I do I cannot get comfortable. My back hurts. I am so very ready to meet my little Landry. Brad is ready, the pets are ready, the house is ready (for the most part, minus the construction STILL going on). I do not have everything I will need for him... but I'm close! I am 35 weeks today. My next appointment is Tuesday the 18th, and that will be my 36 week appointment when they start 'checking' to see if you are dilating, etc. I am nervous for that appointment for two reasons: because I have heard that it hurts, and because that means I am getting really close... but I welcome that, because I AM READY :) Don't get me wrong, I am so happy to be pregnant and I know that he is much easier to care for when he is IN my belly than after he comes out, but I am just ready to meet him and ready to not hurt no matter how I position my body :)

Way too long

I understand that is has been way too long since I have posted. I apologize! I just wanted to give an update on how things are going. Landry is doing wonderfully. I had a doctors appointment yesterday. I am 34 weeks and measuring 33 inches, which is GOOD because that means that he is NOT big for his age anymore... thank goodness. I want a healthy baby, NOT a huge baby! I am also doing well, my doctor is pleased with my blood pressure, weight gain (although I wish I had gained less) and how I am caring for my pregnant body. Brad and I are going on a hospital tour sometime this week and will get pre-registered to make sure they are ready for me and Landry we he is ready to come into the world. My hospital bag is 90% packed and ready, just need a few more things.

On the home front, Landry's room is done! (I have pictures, just need to get them off of the camera to post them). Everything is put together and ready for him; the crib, changing table and pack and play/bassinet. Sheets are washed and in their place. His newborn and 0-3 month clothes have been washed in Dreft and are in his dresser.

So, other than finishing up my work before going on maternity leave... all that's left is the wait (at least three more weeks before I'm considered 'full term') for Landry to decide that it is time for him to meet his mommy and daddy. I feel pretty ready, or at least as ready as a first time mom can feel before she is actually a mom! I am so excited to meet him and see his handsome face! I will post pictures of his room very soon!

maternity pics set #1

Brad took my first official set of maternity pictures a few weeks ago in downtown Amarillo. I was 25 1/2 weeks when he took these. I really like them. He is so talented! Here is the link and a preview! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2925529&id=8328012

Glucose Test

Tuesday I had another one of those moments that every pregnant woman goes through... but this one isn't one they necessarily look forward to like other mommy to be milestones. I went for my glucose tolerance test to screen for Gestational Diabetes. First of all this was the second time I had gone to try to do it, the first time I went to a lab that had been closed the week before and no one bothered to warn me when I called in for details. That was frustrating, a hungry, thirsty pregnant girl who finds out she just drove 45 minutes for NOTHING! Anyways, Tuesday I drove to Amarillo. I had no food or water all morning, I arrived at the lab at 9:00 am. They gave me that wonderful orange drink that tasted just like an orange fanta with a few packets of sweet & low mixed in... and told me to wait one hour. They took my blood and sent me on my way. Two days later I heard from my wonderful OB, Dr. Judy. She informed me that I am gestational diabetes free! My sugars were at 123, and the ideal is to be under 140! I am so happy that I don't have to cut out carbs and sweets! I would have a hard time not eating fruit! So, the yucky test did not end up so bad after all!

What's in a name?

Alright, so I'm sure many of you probably know this, but Brad and I have officially decided on a name for our baby boy!

LANDRY JOHN MABRY

I can't wait to meet him!! I love him already!

Exhaustion

Everyone always says that in the second trimester, you will have a lot of energy and feel better than you have in your life. I must disagree with the first part of that statement. I feel fantastic and the world is a pretty wonderful place now that my baby is about to be in it... but the energy part, not so much. I am so tired, all the time. Even when I am having a great day and the weather is beautiful, I still just need a nap! The sad thing is I KNOW it will get worse from here. I am 26 weeks and 1 day today, almost to the third trimester!

Belly update

This is going to be a short post... just two small updates regarding the belly.
1) my belly button is beginning to flatten... it is not flat yet and certainly has not 'popped'... but it sure is working on it.
2) looks like the 'linea negra' is going to give my belly some color during my pregnancy. It is very light and very thin... but is it starting to show up.
3) still no stretch marks... let's hope that lasts :)

My husband promised to take some pictures of me and my bump this weekend!

A shy Mabry?

I am a little confused about my little man right now... I figured that there is no way a child that is the product of Brad and I could be in any way shy or timid. But, it seems that I am the only one he is willing to show off for. Whenever he is kicking up a storm, I will try to let someone else feel him, and as soon as another hand is on my belly... he just stops. He has kicked for Brad once or twice, but even with daddy he gets shy. He is already a little stinker! Maybe he'll grow out of it. :)

Sleeping While Pregnant

Why is it when your body needs sleep the most, and you are tired ALL the time... is the time when it is hardest to get comfortable and get a good nights sleep? And I know it will only get worse the bigger I get! I have been sleeping good on and off but last night was terrible and I just know that I am going to have to fight to stay awake today. I think a lunch hour nap is in order :)

New Year's Day

This picture was taken New Year's Day (I was 16 weeks). I need to get my photographer husband to take some new ones of the bump! Just wanted to share it because I just love this picture!

Amazing!

Last night Brad got home late and we were in the kitchen serving up the chicken spaghetti I made for dinner. Biscuit had been moving a lot all day and he gave me another little hello from the inside while we were standing there. So I looked down and said hello like I usually do. Brad decided to try (again) to feel the baby move. He has been trying and trying to feel him moving in there ever since I told him that I could feel him. We stood there very still in the kitchen with my shirt pulled up and his hand on the right side of my belly. He didn't feel anything so he pushed a little harder (still not hard)... and BOOM!!!! Biscuit kicked his daddy HARD. Brad said 'WHOA!' and pulled his hand away. We were both laughing hysterically and I started to cry (shocker). It was a pretty amazing moment. I am so glad daddy finally got to feel his baby move!

Biscuit is a mover and a shaker

Today was a busy day for Biscuit! Even though mommy has been stuck inside all day because of the snow outside, Mr. Biscuit has been quite active today. It started off at about 6 this morning. I rolled into a sleeping position that I guess he was not so crazy about... because he kicked me! This was the first movement that felt more like a punch than a tickle! It definitely made me smile, and then I rolled over so he wouldn't be uncomfortable anymore. He has been moving on and off all day at random times. But tonight while I was walking around the house, I felt him moving for the first time while I was moving. Up until now, I have only felt him when I am sitting down pretty still and quiet. It felt like Mr. Biscuit was having a dance party inside my uterus :) Even as I type this he is doin a little jig on my right side. What an amazing feeling!

Bump pic #1

I know the picture is not the best... but at least there is bump in it! :) This was taken at 17 weeks. Many more pics to come!

Been too long!

Let me first say that I am sorry that it has been so long since my last update! Biscuit, Brad and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. We spent New Years with some of Brad's family and my parents at a cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and had a wonderful time. I had a tiny bump at Thanksgiving and through the Holidays. Since the first of the year, Biscuit has really started making an appearance! I officially can't wear anything BUT maternity pants. I am pretty sure that it is now obvious that I am pregnant and not just gaining a few pounds. :)

A lot of big things have happened in Biscuit's little life since my last post! On January 8th, I felt the baby move for the first time. At first I thought it was a gas bubble, but then I thought about where it was and realized that it probably wasn't gas. I felt it sporadically for the next week or so. Brad and I went to an auction on the 16th and he really went crazy moving around in there when he heard the auctioneer (this made daddy very proud). I am now feeling him pretty consistently throughout the day, but it still feels more like a tickle than a kick. We have tried, but Brad has not been able to feel him from the outside of my belly yet! He is looking forward to that anxiously!

On January 13th, we found out that Biscuit is A BOY! Brad and I could not be more excited! Brad actually did a little dance in the ultrasound room when it was made official. I think that was the proudest I have seen him yet. Biscuit was actually grabbing his little boy parts during the ultrasound, and that gave us a good laugh. We also found out that Biscuit is a BIG boy! At that point (18 weeks) he should have weighed about 6.7 ounces on average. Biscuit measured at about 8 ounces! Maybe we'll have a little football player after all :)

The weekend after we found out that we were having a boy, we painted his room. The walls are dark brown and the ceiling is bright turquoise. We love it!

We do not have a name picked out yet, we have three that we are considering but no consensus yet. Hopefully we can make up our minds soon so that we can call Biscuit by his real name!

I think that about covers the big stuff I needed to catch up on. I will be better about posting in the future!
